For this Design-Build Project, Barletta hired VHB as the Lead Designer. This project consisted of replacing 6 structurally deficient bridges, with 5 of the six bridges on various Commuter Rail lines utilizing Accelerated Bridge Construction (ABC) techniques including self-propelled modular transporters (SPMTs). The 6th bridge is currently being constructed adjacent to the existing bridge, and the tracks are being realigned to go over the newly constructed bridge in Somerville.
