Barletta worked successfully to complete the work of this project on weekend diversions without any impact to railroad operations either during the weekend or when resuming service on Monday morning. With adjacent Commuter Rail tracks and the overhead Expressway, this area of the MBTA system is the most difficult location in which to perform the type of track replacement undertaken. The track work for this project included total track reconstruction of approximately three miles of existing track including special trackwork and switch machines.
