Located in Westwood, MA, Barletta performed a complete bridge replacement, reconstruction and raising of the track profile, and the reconstruction, widening and lowering of the roadway beneath. For this project, Accelerated Bridge Construction (ABC) techniques were utilized to install the precast abutments/approach slabs and bridge superstructure, minimizing disruption to the rail service and road traffic. For these two superstructures, Barletta utilized two 600 ton cranes and self-propelled modular transporters (SPMT) to complete the project within the restrictions given, both on time and under budget.
