Barletta Joint Ventured with O&G Industries to complete this Design-Build project. Barletta was the Managing Partner of the JV which hired VHB to be the Project’s Lead Designer. The massive scope of this Design-Build project consisted of the reconfiguration of the Route 79/I-195/Route 138 Interchange as well as structural repairs to the iconic mile-long Braga Bridge, which carries I-195 over the Taunton River and Route 79. Nine new bridges were built and two were rehabilitated using Accelerated Bridge Construction methods, in addition to over a mile of new highway and 20 acres of roadway constructed. The project also opened the city’s waterfront to the community with advanced multimodal access, and better safety for pedestrians and bicyclists.
