As the Design-Build entity for this Design-Build project, Barletta worked with its Lead Design firm VHB. This Design-Build project encompassed the complete replacement of the Hines Bridge, a moveable swing span bridge that carries a major roadway over the Merrimack River. Sections of the new bridge’s spans were pre-assembled for accelerated erection at the jobsite. The Barletta Team made design changes and rescheduled the work to mitigate schedule delays that were the result of differing site conditions encountered when constructing the bridge’s foundations. The schedule mitigation measures employed by the project Team resulted in the bridge being completed seven months ahead of schedule.
