North and South Security Gate Complex (Contract L602-C25)

The Massachusetts Port Authority undertook an upgrade and expansion of its perimeter security systems.  These projects were subject to the SSI (Sensitive Security Information) restrictions under the Code of Federal Regulations and the Transportation Security Administration (TSA).  Work was performed on both the landside and Air Operations Area of the airport in compliance with the Federal Aviation Administration’s (FAA) Airport Security Program, including background checks for security clearances required for access.

Work under this contract involved the demolition of 2 existing rotator vehicle wedge barriers and hydraulic control cabinet, and the installation of 4 new rotator wedge vehicle barriers and two hydraulic control cabinets, the installation of a new chain link tilt gate, traffic lights, flashing lights and additional traffic signage, and the installation of additional, and replacement of existing, traffic loops.  Also included were modifications to the existing mimic panel, gate Programmable Logistic Controller cabinet, and installation of an Uninterrupted Power Supply unit for the PLC system.  Maintenance of continuous site security and traffic control was of paramount importance to this project.
